Here we are in week 22! This past week was very fun, especially for Zo, as this past week was her Birthday!
This past week we hung out in AZ for a few days, then drove back. Once back we got back to usual schedules, and I got really sick. I am still recovering from it right now too. But we all had a good time.
This past Thursday was Zo’s birthday. She was able to get her ears pierced, and had a ton of fun. She knew it was going to hurt a little, and she still braved it through. That night we had some awesome dinner. Just ask Elise how great it was, she can fill you all in on the Hawaiian Haystacks that she made. The kids liked it and that is all that mattered.
This past weekend we also went and got a tree. Lights and decoration will happen this week, so I will get that up next week. But we got a tree. That should make Kim and Brian happy a little, that I allowed some Christmas spirit in my house. I still need to hang up all my Humbug Decorations.
Anyway, here are the pictures from that past week.
All the kids, sitting on the couch, relaxing in a cold Utah night
Kas and Zo taking down some Hawaiian Haystacks
Netter smiling for the camera while eating some good food
A panoramic view of the dinner, look at how cool the table looks in this
Zo giving some change to a Christmas charity outside
Zo had to stop for lunch before getting holes in her ears
Zo perusing the bounty to choose from in order to get the holes in her ears
Zo is looking a little cautious about this, and not sure if she really wants this
Zo was lucky enough to get both ears done at the same time
Looking at the results, in the mirror, Zo likes what she sees
Ears successfully pierced, Zo is now trying to forget that they hurt. What we do for beauty…
Blowing out the birthday candle, and I know she was wishing for her Daddy to get a brand new computer too
You know they’re growing up when they are excited to open clothes on their birthday
More gifts from the same bag? No way, this must be a magical bag
Zo opening gifts on her 9th birthday. My baby is growing up! (that is from Elise, as my kids know they are not to grow up for me)
So those lights and excitement made the kids dance the Hird Disco
Most of the performers at the concert were BYU voice and music teachers, and had been involved in numerous plays, musicals, and operas all over the country, including Broadway. The voices were incredible!
The best part is that the kids can’t wait to come back and volunteer at the Coalition.
We got to make some of the treats and man the concession stand at a benefit concert for the Food and Care Coalition in Provo. They provide meals, medical, psychological, dental care, etc. for the homeless around UT Valley.
Took this panoramic image at the parking lot at the Y hiking trails. It was a great site, and we ate donuts too.
This is a shot of the MTC and the Provo Temple, I am not sure why I took it, but it does look serene
The lot wanted us to make sure the trees were at least 8 ft tall before we cut. And a horse bit Zo’s hand. She wanted everyone to know that.
Zo and Netter, the tree knappers, getting away.
Christmas trees for everybody!
Sherlock, I mean Kas, hot on the trail of those tree nappers, and they will not get away from him
We have made it 16 weeks. That is almost 4 months. And with the current week’s weather coming up, now we get to see how tough we really are. The week coming up is going to be cold. Very cold. This past week had plenty of excitement, thrills, and death defying events. Ok, well, it…
This is week 24. I am doing things a little different these next few weeks. Instead of posting on Monday, I will post on either Tuesday or Wednesday so that you can see all the cool things for the Christmas. Then when we get to the new year, I will resume on the Monday posts,…
Almost 3 months in the state of UT. Crazy! The weather is starting to cool off, and the leaves look like flames on the trees. Thank heavens, after a summer filled with wildfires, these flames are just a result of the changing seasons. I am so excited for Fall! It’s my favorite time of year. …
So, you thought you could get rid of me that easily huh, well then this week you are in for a real big thing, because I have 3 weeks worth of material that you can all skip over quickly. That is right, three full weeks to ignore right out, or to just glance at the…
Weeks have gone by, and the Hird Family is still exploring Utah and the new life here. This past week is no different. In order to understand this week, we must understand the family. Elise was born and raised in Arizona. Minus a little time spent in Slovenia, she has been almost her whole life…
