A reminder

Just thought I would post this once again. How true, how true.

Site Update

Just another note to say the site has been updated again. So if you see anything that used to work and it does not work now, please let me know.

A new post

Woo – Hoo.

That is all.

Finally, you are outta here . . .

2008, you have been a beast. You have given me some of the good things, but you have been a real sourpuss. Why? You brought job loss, health issues, broken fingers, bad economy, bad elections, and now on your way out you give me the cold?! WTH?

What did I ever do to you 2008? I thought we were friends, man. Didn’t we have some good times? You also laughed at that episode of Family Guy where Peter did something stupid. You also listened to the Wombats and Blur. So why are you so cruel to me?

You used to be cool. But now that you are only a few hours from being a memory you decide to give me a cold? You suck, 2008. Did I ever beat you up when I lost my job on your watch? No. Did I punch you in the nose when Elise’s dad had health issues? No. Did I kick you in the stomach when Kas broke his finger? No. So why are you giving me the cold? I was nice to you man.

Just because we are going to party at the hour of your death . . . . . .

What the . . . .

So on Thanksgiving, we went to my dads house in Mesa. We came back to Chandler around 7:30 pm that Thursday night. In Mesa it started to rain pretty hard, when it broke, I told Elise, “Let’s get the kids in the car and get going while there is a break in the rain”. We went outside, and started for the van. It was still lightly sprinkling and there was lightning and thunder going on. We park on the street by the curb when we go to my dad’s place. This night, we walk out there and there is no curb. It had been flooded over entirely. And my kids did not want to walk in it, and Elise had on some leather shoes, so she did not want to either. So I walked over to the car, and brought it up to the driveway. When I stepped in the water, it was well over my ankle, then I stepped off the “curb” and it got a lot deeper. Oh well, it was not raining hard in Chandler earlier, so I thought it would be wet, but not flooded. But we were in for something else.

Once we got to Basha road, I thought that the road had an awful lot of gravel, and was wondering why there would be so much gravel. As we turned on to the dirt road to our house, it was all white. I knew exactly what it was. Elise, was driving (I do not like driving a vehicle with more than 2 wheels anymore), and when we got on the dirt road, she said: “It looks like someone had salted the road”. As I am laughing I told her that it was not salt, but hail. That is right HAIL. And not small pieces, and not just a dab here or there. It was a nice size (for Arizona), and it was all over the place. We got home, and it covered the ground. It looked like it had snowed, there was so much. The kids got out and we were looking around, we played a little bit in it. Elise got her camera and we took a few pictures.

The pictures are after the kids and I started to throw the ice around at each other. So there are some patches that have grass showing through it. But when we got home, it was all white all over the ground. It was like God went to Sonic and dumped all of the ice all over this area. It was odd. The hail was bigger than I have seen in AZ, and it was all over the place. I am not sure where the hail actually reached in Chandler, but out here in the Bogle compound, it got dumped a ton.

Good times, good times.

I need to update . . . .

Real quick. I am needing to update this site again. So, if you are one of the lucky few who read this blog, and come to find that it is down, do not worry, the world has not ended, nor has the interwebs been broken. I am more than likely just updating the site and making it more nice, pretty and able to do the dishes for me.

Just a fair warning.

Minds are like parachutes. Just because you've lost yours doesn't mean you can borrow mine.

Down to the last week . . .

It is now the last week in October. And yet it still gets hot during the day. Freaking Arizona. I say we all just move out of this crazy state and go to either Portland, or England. OK, maybe I am being a little too dramatic here. But wouldn’t that be wild? A mass exodus of people to Portland or England.

But anywho, that is not what the post is about. It is about making sure everyone knows that this is the last week. That is right, we are down to the final days here. After a few days, it will be too late for many people. If you have not thought of your decision yet, you only have a couple few days left. So think hard, and think really good. I know I have made my decision, and I hope it is good. Because after a few days, I will know if it was or not. So if you have not decided, now is the time.

I guess I can not stress this enough. We only have a few days left. Because in the begining of November starts another term. That is right. November 1st, I married Elise. We will start a whole new marital year together. So you only have a few days left to get us a gift. I still prefer Little Debbie snack, and my wife prefers X-Box 360 games, or computer software. So if you have not decided what to get us, then you only have a few days left. I have decided what I am going to get Elise (and if she doesn’t like it I know someone who will . . . ) .

What I like . . . .

I think the best new music group is a band called the Wombats. For a long time it was Blur, but since they are on permanent hiatus now, the Wombats have been putting out the best stuff lately. Go to You Tube, check it out. I even put in one of their songs on the sidebar player. Here are some You Tube links for the other songs:
Lets Dance to Joy Division
Backfire at the Disco
Kill the Director
Lost in the Post

I think the music industry as a whole is completely a joke. And these guys provide a good breath of fresh air.

Now for the things I do not like . . .

Updates to the site

I put a music player on the site. I just have to now figure out how I want to really incorporate this in the theme. And it only allows MP3 files, so anything I download from iTunes (which is evilly put in a m4p format) I can not put in there. But if you know of any good converters, I will convert those.

I am also going to be giving the kids their own little “sub domain” so when they post, they will have their own little sandbox area that they can play around with. So when they post, you will only see it if you go to their site. You can click on their links on the sidebar menu.

I am also trying to get another site up and running for a simple calendar. This idea came from Marc Coria. I thought, hey I can create that real quick, and get it posted up here soon. I am hoping to do that this weekend, as well. I will post the link when it is there. Not anything major, but just more coding to do and hopefully learn more.

If there are any other updates you guys want to see, let me know.

What should I do now?

So I am tired of Arizona, want to move, England would still be my first choice, but I do have a few people counting on me now. My kids like the Fulton Elementary school, my wife can not be further than 200 yards away from her parents house, and now I am stuck. Should I do like my dad did to us way back in 1990, go to another place, then call later and say “By the way, we’re moving”.

I think I am also coded out. I like writing code, and I like doing the things that make a difference. But so far, there is nothing I can think of to do to help make the world a better place, except for destroy all the Big Oil execs and put responsible people in charge for once. But since I would be unable to legally do that, I need some ideas from everyone.

1. Should I move?
2. If so, where?
3. Why should I follow your advice?
4. What application, on which platform (ie web, Mac, iPhone, etc) would you like to see?
5. What greater good what this application accomplish?
6. How come they sell the best beverage in the world, I am speaking of egg nog of course, only around Christmas time?

I await your answers. Right by my system, I am waiting. Looking at my screen, waiting.
