What the Twitter?

CNN and Ashton Kutchner have now done it, and got to a million. And politicians are doing it, More and more people seem to be doing it, but now certain media outlets have said that Twitter has “come of age” because Oprah is doing it? Come on get real. Does Oprah even matter anymore, especially in technology?

Twitter is a good thing, and a bad thing. I thought it funny the other day, as I follow few people on my Twitter, and few people follow me. It is a good balance to keep things small for someone like me. But say you are a news firm, like CNN. You could Tweet out news stories when they happen. If you are a marketing person, you could follow hundreds of thousands of people to get “marketing ideas”. There are many uses for Twitter. The funniest thing I saw the other day was someone who I follow, who puts out like 15-20 tweets a day about anything and everything. After a #FollowFriday, they post that they may follow some of the new people who started following them, as long as they do not spam. I thought this funny because this person puts out as many tweets a day as they do, and does not want spam. Well, I guess everyone has their own perspective of what is excessive.

But there is just a lot to do with Twitter. I choose to remain small in my followers/following, because let’s face it, I like smaller groups. I do not like crowds, and I do not think there is any reason why anyone would need to know what I am eating at some place, and what I am thinking about that food. I also think the world is a better place when I also do not Tweet about when I go to the bathroom, or how long it takes me to go. But, this is just me. I am sure somewhere, there is a wiki out there who wants to garble up all that info.
