Spring Break

Ok, so it’s been awhile. this spring break has been crazy and we didn’t even go anywhere. I am definitely ready for some rhyme and reason to my days again (as I always am).

I am a child of God, and so my knees are gray.

Tonight Zo was having a hard time falling asleep. She had growing pains and, remembering having them when I was a kid, I am always very understanding when my kids legs hurt. I put on the cd of primary music that the kids got to practice with. I Am a Child of God is Zo’s favorite. She asked me if I would like her to sing it to me. How could any mom turn that down? She sang the first verse in her own little way. She got most of it right or at least the important part about the parents kind and dear. It was when she got to the second verse that I had to turn my head so she wouldn’t see me laughing. Everything comes from God right? So, why not gray knees? Read the rest of this entry »

Realization (I miss Popito!)

As you all know, I stopped working about 2 weeks ago. It has been so nice staying home with my kids and getting some other goals worked on. I think this change has affected Zo most of all. The whole time I was working she was lucky enough to have her grandparents watch her. On Mondays, or Tuesdays she would go to Nana B’s (my mom) and on Thursdays Popito (Stephen’s dad) would come over and play. Well, within the last couple of months it had become very hard to leave her on Thursdays. Her brother and sister were at school and there were no cousins to play with. All she knew was that I was working and Popito was coming to watch her while everyone else left. The very last day of work, I think I blogged about, she just stood on the front lawn and screamed. Popito was very good about it and let her have it out and then took her inside when she was ready, with out even getting upset or hurt feelings. He is an amazing father-in -law.

Well, as I was sitting at my computer a few minutes ago, Zo came in and so randomly cried that she misses Popito. It took a couple weeks, but I think she has realized that he is not coming to play every week anymore. I told her that he went to Florida to visit his mom and that he would come visit when he got back. She just sat in my lap and again said that she missed Popito. Of course without missing a beat she covered her bases. In the same breath she let me know that she did not want me to leave again either. And as long as I am using all these cliches, yes, she wants her cake and to eat it too.

dance

Yesterday was the first dance class for my girls. They were so excited! We even went to parent/teacher conferences dressed in their dance clothes. I was nervous, based on past experience, that they would even get the nerve up to go. I’ve been fooled by innocent excitement before and spent many mornings sitting by a public pool, in a gym, or on the side of a soccer field wondering why I even bother putting my girls in lessons at all.

Unbelievably, and thanks to Kas running in with them, they not only stayed in the room, but participated eagerly. Woohoo! This is a happy day.

Now my only questions are, why does my 5 year old have a better figure than me, and how can I keep them from becoming teenagers?

This is London

Victoria Station

I am now back in the States, and London was great. I flew out of Marrakech on Friday midday, and landed in London late afternoon. We took the trains from Gatwick Airport to Victoria Station and then rode the tubes. That city has mass transit perfected. Great set of maps, tubes, and can get you anywhere you need to be. From Victoria Station, we were able to take the tubes to our hotel, then back to the center of town. It was just brilliant.

The Mighty Boosh

As I am trying to go thru pics to post for my layover in London to post on line, here is a TV show that was voted in the NME awards as the best TV show in Britain, if I understood the drunk sods on this awards show. It is called the Mighty Boosh. Let me know what you think.
